Records are presented of A. colensonis and Ae. brevistyla completing larval development in a temporary pond in New Zealand in 187 days or less, mainly over the winter months. The development time for these spp. has previously been considered to be 2 yrs and 2-3 yrs respectively. Unusually eutrophic conditions may have enhanced growth rates.
