Note — This is one of the most famous Japanese nursery songs. The text was written by the lyric Rofu MIKI (1889-1964), and the music composed (1923) by Kosaku YAMADA (1886-1965). It has been played as the 'Congress Anthem’at the XVIth International Congress of Entomology (Kyoto, 1980), and since became the Anthem of the International Symposia of Odonatology. The present translation is based on the English translation and commentary by Kiyoshi INDUE, issued by the International Odonatological Society (S.I.O.) on the occasion of the Society’s Tenth Anniversary, celebrated during the Sixth International Symposium of Odonatology (Chur, 1981).
