The odonate fauna of New Caledonia has been reviewed by M.A. LIEFTINCK (1975. Cah. O.R.S.T.O.M.. Hydrob. 9: 127-166; 1976, toe. cil. 10: 165-200) who identified 39 taxa from the mainland and one additional species from the Loyalty Islands. Two previously undescribed species have since been added to the fauna (M . A. LIEFTINCK. 1982, Odonalologica 11: 287-295; W.J. WINSTANLEY & D.A.L. DAVIES. 1982, Odonalologica 11: 339-346). During a visit to New Caledonia in N ovember/ December 1981,4 widespread species of Anisoptera not previously listed from the island were identified in the insect collection at the Office de la Recherche Scientifique et Technique Outre-Mer (O.R.S.T.O.M.), Noumea. These, together with a fifth species collected by a member of my party, are now brought to record. The 1981 specimens have been lodged in the New Zealand National Arthropod Collection. Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. Auckland (NZAC).
