Nota sulla riproduzione di Hemianax ephippiger (Burm.) in Italia (Anisoptera: Aeshnidae)

A NOTE ON THE BREEDING OF HEM!A NA X EPHIPPIGER (BL'RM.)IN ITALY (ANISOPTERA; AESHNIDAE) — 2 breeding populations have been discovered in permanent waters in central Italy (laghetto di Pieve, Macerata) and Sicily (Mazaro R., Trapani). A review is given of the European records of teneral specimens, and the dates of the presumed emergence in Italy (April) are compared with those from literature (July-Sept.). There are discrepancies in the dates of reproductive activity and emergence, and regarding the possibility of a bivolline cycle.
