Aanleg van prooivoorraad door een overwinterende Sperweruil Surnia ulula in Nederland

On 2 and 3 December 2013, a foraging Hawk Owl was recorded near Zwolle, central Netherlands, which captured two Common Voles Microtus arvalis that were cached in a tree cavity and on tree branches. It was actively foraging in broad daylight, flying back and forth and even – for a brief moment – hovering. Prey retrieval was not recorded.
