On 21 July 2013, a hot day with bright sunshine, an adult male Hobby frequented a meadow where he was observed taking a dustbath in a spot where horses had turned the turf into sand. The bird was lying flat on the ground, feathers exposed whilst making bathing movements with its body, first on one side, then the other. This took about two minutes, before standing up, shaking its feathers and moving off to the nearby nesting site.
