Sphaerium rivicola (Lamarck, 1818) levend in Drenthe

The last report of S. rivicola in Drenthe dates from 30 April 1979, from the Drentsche Aa nearby Glimmen. Since then it has never been found again in Drenthe. On the 9th of March 2002, I found empty shells along the Voorste Diep nearby Bronnegerveen. During follow-up research in April 2002, also living specimens were found, resulting in a new record of S. rivicola in Drenthe.
