The above mentioned organizations are working together to produce a check-list of the European land and freshwater molluscs. For the Fauna Europaea project (www.faunaeur.org) this list should be available at the end of this year. In order to obtain a high quality list, check-lists per country will become or are already available at the Web (see www.gnm.se and click on “In English” followed by “The Museum” and “CLECOM”). The malacologcal community is requested to consult these lists, and to contact the author by email (R.Bank@wxs.nl) regarding omissions or mistakes concerning specific status, nomenclature etc. By doing so, an up-to-date European list can be prepared at the end of this year. Such a list should provide a comprehensive insight into European molluscan biodiversity.
