Some general information is given concerning Deroceras panormitanum and its recent spread to most of the continents and in particular to its arrival and subsequent dispersal in the Netherlands and Belgium. Some characters (external morphology and preferred biotope) are given, which may serve in the field as a marker that we are most probably not dealing with the common fieldslug Deroceras laeve but with one of the introduced species D. panormitanum or D. sturanyi The first records are given concerning the presence of D. panormitanum on the Isle of Terschelling, one of the Dutch Wadden-islands. Possible ways of its introduction in Terschelling are enumerated.
