Three samples of the Horseshoe limpet Hipponyx conicus (Schumacher, 1817), a well-known Indo-Pacific species, are present in the National Mollusc Collection of the Tel Aviv University, which are supplied with locality data as if they have been found along the Mediterranean coast of Israel. However, in all these cases the data seem to be highly unreliable and a proof that Hipponyx conicus has established itself in the Eastern Mediterranean seems to be completely lacking.
