A recent visit to the nature reserve ‘Het Heitje van Katham’, just south of Volendam, Noord-Holland, the Netherlands, has revealed the presence of two additional freshwater molluscs: Potamopyrgus antipodarum and Pisidium casertanum. Forty-eight species of molluscs are now known to live in this unique reserve: a peat-moor within a peat-bog.
