Along the shores of the Zoetermeerse Plas north of Zoetermeer several living adult and juvenile specimens of this introduced species were found both on the shore and in the lake. Birds, especially Common coot, Fulica atra, were observed to be the main cause of landing the shells together with Unio- and Anodonta-species. All specimens showed rests of byssusthreads of Dreissena polymorpha. the main foodsource for the coots during winter.
