A revision of the material identified as Phalium saburon in the National Mollusc Collections of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJ) and the Tel Aviv University (TAU) has revealed that all the specimens recorded under that name from the coast off Israel were based in reality on juvenile shells of either Phalium granulatum undulatum (with large topwhorls) or Galeodea echinophora (with small topwhorls). Phalium saburon has therefore to be removed from the checklist of molluscs occurring in the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Israel.
