The snail fauna of the Hoge and Lage Fronten (High and Low Fronts) North of Maastricht was investigated. The Hoge and Lage Fronten are remains of the 18th century fortifications around the city. The composition of the malacofauna of the Hoge Fronten showed resemblance with that of the chalk grasslands on Mount St. Peter, South of the city. Many more species were found on the dry Hoge Fronten than in the wet Lage Fronten.
