The Muricid gastropod Ergalatax obscura is restricted in its natural range of distribution to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Since the mid nineties it is known to occur also in the Eastern Mediterranean, where it was first discovered along the south coast of Turkey. Later on it was reported also as living in Cyprian waters. In the second half of 2004 this Lessepsian migrant has been found at three different sites in the marine Nature Reserve and National Park of Akhziv-Rosh Haniqra, Israel: Akhziv, Shahaf Island and Segavyon Island.
