The authors conclude that Baster’s Turbo stagnalis has priority and that this little shell is as to the description and the plate quite identical with the shell, described by Montagu in the year 1803. In spite of the conclusions of different malacologists, they point out that the description and the plate of Baster belong to only one species and that at the same time Hydrobia ulvae is to exclude. They take it for granted that the shell has to bear the name of Hydrobia stagnalis (Baster), exactly described and figured in the year 1765 by the eminent author for whom this periodical is named.
