In Basteria vol. 10, p. 48—49 Dr. L. Forcart discusses the value of definite species as typical for the genus, and so he calls Orthalicus zebra (Müller) the „genotype” of the genus Orthalicus Beck 1837. I may be allowed to object against this use of the word genotype; genotype has a very definite meaning in genetics and therefore the use of this word in taxonomy, like Forcart does leads to confusion. In discussions like this the term „generic type” should be used.
