Some new records of Leucophytia bidentata (Montagu, 1808) in the province of Zeeland The small pulmonate snail Leucophytia bidentata, up to now considered a very rare species in the Netherlands, has been found alive in 3 localities in the province of Zeeland, viz. near Wolphaartsdijk (Zuid-Beveland), Kortgene (Noord-Beveland) and Strijenham (Tholen). The species occurs somewhat below mean high water mark on silted and well-aerated, coarse sand under the large boulders of the dike. The authors suppose that the species is rather common in Zeeland, but has always escaped detection owing to insufficient knowledge of its habitat.
