Prof. Dr. Hendrik Engel (1898-1981) as a malacologist Hendrik Engel, late curator and director of the Zoological Museum of Amsterdam University and emeritus professor of systematic and geographic zoology, was a versatile zoologist, who devoted much of his time to molluscs, particularly opisthobranch gastropods and the history of malacology.
