Notes on recent species of the genus Pleurodiscus (Gastropoda Pulmonata, Pupilloidea) Four recent species of the monotypic family Pleurodiscidae were known up till now: P. cyprius (from Cyprus), P. sudensis (Crete), P. balmei (Mediterranean area) and P. klemmi (Cyrenaica). P. erdelii is considered a synonym of P. balmei. A fifth species, P. asteriscus, from Kozan (Turkey, province of Adana) is described as new to science. Descriptions of the shell and localities of P. balmei (with special reference to Greece and Turkey), P. cyprius, and P. sudensis are given. Helix convexa Férussac and Circinaria balmei are considered synonyms of Balcanodiscus frivaldskyanus (Zonitidae).
