Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes of several species group names with the epithets aurantia(us) and aurantiaca(us) are given. Anguipecten picturatus nom. nov. is introduced for Pecten aurantiacus Adams & Reeve, 1850, nec Röding, 1798. A lectotype of Ostrea senatoria Gmelin, 1791 is designated.
