In 1984 the slugs Boetgerilla pallens and Deroceras panormitanum were only known from a few places in the southern part of the Netherlands, but rapidly spread over the country. In 1991 the author found them in ‘Het Gooi’, south of Amsterdam in several places. The slugs Lehmannia marginata and Malacolimax tenellus have been found in several woods in ‘Het Gooi’ in 1990 for the first time. The author believes that they have always lived there and only survive in very isolated places. The author describes the mating of the slug Limax maximus as seen at home. He was impressed by the very vehement behaviour of the animals.
