In this article detailed information is given about letters written in the period 1882-1891 between the Dutch malacologist M.M. Schepman (1847-1919) and J.C.H. Crossse (1826-1898), then director of the ‘Journal de Conchyliologie’. The subjects of this correspondence were: 1. (pictures of) Pleurotomaria rumphii Schepman, 1879; 2. exchange of books; 3. determination by Crosse of some Olivaand Olivella-species from the collection of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden; 4. the name of the new director of the Koninklijk Zoölogisch Genootschap “Natura Artis Magistra” in Amsterdam.
