Zur systematiek der Europäischen Sphaeriiden

As a reply to proposals of Kuiper (1993) and Meier-Brook (1994) the author presents his view of the generic and subgeneric classification of the european sphaeriid clams, especially of the Pisidium-group. It is suggested that Pisidium s.l. Is divided into two genera, Pisidium and Casertiana. For further division of Casertiana, the subgenera Pseudeupera and Odhneripisidium are defined. The remaining group Casertiana s.str. is probably inhomogenious, but in the author’s opinion the adequate categories for further subgrouping are not yet clear. Sphaeriastrum Bourguignat is an objective synonyme of Sphaerium Scopoli. Shadinicyclas Starobogatov & Korniushin is proposed as a substitute.
