In March 1995 the Zoological Museum Amsterdam received the shell collection of Leunis de Priester (1880-1968), which consisted of more than 3000 samples, mainly marine molluscs. Probably more than 25% of the material was exchanged and/or donated by P. Dautzenberg. He also exchanged material with several Natural History Museums and other wellknown conchologists. Especially the families Conidae and Cypraeidae had his special attention. Apart from the shell collection all his correspondence and some of his books were donated and a list of correspondents is enumerated. De Priester never published but due to his friendship with the Schilder family his collection was used by them for studies on cypraeids. In 1972 E. Wils named a variety of Conus thalassiarchus ”depriesteri” to honour him.
