The Dutch malacologist M.M. Schepman is especially known for his scientific reports on the molluscs collected during the Siboga Expeditie. Weber, leader of the expedition, suggested that he might name some taxa after participants of the Siboga Expeditie which can be infered from a letter by Schepman to Weber. Schepman followed this ”advise” mostly in parts I and II of the Siboga Expeditie Prosobranchia report. However, the majority of the newly described taxa named after persons, were malacologists, who helped him with his taxonomie problems. Taxa named after these foreign collegues are dispersed in Parts I-VI of the report.
