The inventarisation of Amsterdam already revealed rare Dutch landmolluscs as Hygromia cinctella & Cernuella jonica. In the spring of 1997, two specimens of Menetus dilatatus (Gould, 1841) were collected in the river Amstel and the canal Lijnbaansgracht. M. dilatatus is originally an American species but is also found in other European countries. The genus Menetus is briefly discussed.
