The distribution-map in Gloër & Meier-Brook (1994) shows Mytilopsis leucophaeata as occurring in the River Rhine from Duisburg to the Dutch border. Because this brackish-water bivalve was never found alive in the Dutch part of the Rhine, this used to cause some confusion. In recent years however, very fresh specimens are frequently found in the waterbasins of the EPON electricity-plant near Nijmegen.
