Hendricus Marinus [Harry] van Rossum, research associate of the Department of Malacology of the Zoological Museum Amsterdam, passed away on the 10th January, 2000 in Spain. After collecting butterflies, he started about 20 years ago to study shells, in particular the species of the genus Conus. He published six articles and described two new species. He possessed a large collection, especially rich in recently described species which will be deposited in the Zoological Museum Amsterdam.
