Marine molluscs from the Eastern Mediterranean. 1. What is Urosalpinx fusulus (Brocchi, 1814) sensu Nordsieck, 1972? A revision of the material recorded as Urosalpinx fusulus from Shiqmona, Israel, by Nordsieck, has revealed that in reality he was dealing with juvenile specimens of Ocinebrina edwardsi (Payraudeau, 1826) and Engina leucozona (Philippi, 1843). Also the additional record of U. fusulus from Nizzanim by Barash & Danin (1992) goes back most probably on misidentified specimens of Ocinebrina edwardsi. The West-Mediterranean species Urosalpinx fusulus (correct name: Orania fusulus) has to be removed therefore from the list of marine molluscs occurring along the coast of Israel.
