Pointed weapons made from shells. Conchdiggers made out of Strombus gigas were rightly confiscated by custom officers at Schiphol-airport, the Netherlands, because the gastropod in question is an internationally protected species (CITES). Daggers and awls made of the columella of Charonia, Busycon and Ficus (?) have been reported in the literature also from archaeological digs in the Americas. Similar weapons made from shells are not known from archaeological sites in the Middle East.
