Strange mistakes among the bivalves treated by Poppe & Goto (1993). The picture given of Mactra olorina Philippi, 1846 does not represent that wellknown Lessepsian migrant but a freshwatermussel, most probably Corbicula consobrina (Cailliaud, 1823). Also Semele striata (Reeve, 1853) is supplied with a wrong figure (plate 20, figure 14). In fact it shows a fine specimen of Gafrarium pectinatim (Linnaeus, 1758), a Lessepsian migrant now commonly encountered along the Mediterranean coast of Israel.
