On 21 August 2014, a Honey-buzzard was disturbed when the bird had been depredating a wasp’s nest in a garden near the village of Zuidwolde in Drenthe. In the next two weeks, this nest (of German wasp Vespula germanica) received several more visits by Honey-buzzards. In the mean time, the workers tried to repair the damage caused by the predator. A final depredation attempt, possibly by Badger Meles meles, on 12 October was the killing blow (only some 40 workers remaining, the entire nest removed).
