In early May 2006, a Raven pair with chicks in the nest reacted differently to a passing Buzzard Buteo buteo and ditto Goshawk Accicipter gentilis, the first being ignored, the second immediately chased away. This difference suggests that Ravens can differentiate between raptor species according to potential danger to their nestlings.
