Broedgeval van Slechtvalk Falco peregrinus op de Sint Lievensmonstertoren te Zierikzee in 2014

After several years of wintering on a church tower in Zierikzee, a pair settled in 2014 and raised two chicks. The male was found dead later that year (2 September: 655 g), and turned out to have been ringed in Belgium. The prey list entirely consisted of birds, most of which must have been captured beyond the town of Zierikzee on tidal flats (ducks and waders) and in farmland. Feral Pigeons were also taken, showing that some hunting must have taken place within the confines of Zierikzee itself.
