In farmland in the central Netherlands, interactions between local breeding Hobbies and other raptors were registered during 24 h of observations at the nest of a Peregrine and 109 h at two nests of Hobbies in 2014. Hobbies were recorded to attack several raptor species when near the nest, i.e. Buzzards Buteo buteo (4x), Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus (9), Kestrel Falco tinnunculus (10x) en Peregrine (two possible cases). When these species passed at distance of >100-200 m, attacks were not recorded (1x Buzzard, 4x Sparrowhawk), 9x Kestrel), 2x Peregrine). No evidence was obtained that the presence of Peregrines interfered with the presence and breeding success of Hobbies in an area where both species were breeding.
