Dactylorhiza purpurella (T.Stephenson & T.A.Stephenson) Soó – The Northern Marshorchid, a new orchid species for the Netherlands? Dactylorhiza purpurella is a well known species, which is mainly distributed in the British Isles, Denmark and the southern part of Norway. The southeasternmost area of its distribution is the Danish Wadden Sea Island of Rømø. This island is not far away from West-Frisian Island of Schiermonnikoog, where the species has occurred for more than twenty years, but where it has only been recognized since 2015.
