Dr. A.C. (Dolf) van Bruggen, internationally renowned malacologist and zoologist, died on June 3rd 2016. While referring to an earlier ‘Festschrift’ that was published on the occasion of his 80th birthday, his career and personality are described. A bibliography of his malacological scientific publications, additional newly described taxa since 2009, and a summary analysis of his work conclude this paper.
