Wespendief Pernis apivorus in Maun, Botswana

On 13 February 2018, an adult female Honey Buzzard visited the garden of Rileys Hotel in Maun (19°59´S, 23°25´E), bordering the Thamalakane River. The garden is spacious and well-wooded with old trees. The bird was remarkably tame though vigilant, constantly scanning the environment. The bird was dark brown overall with strikingly yellow iris and grey cere, and its plumage was immaculate.
