On 3 May 2018 a Hobby tried to snatch a prey item caught seconds earlier by an adult male Kestrel Falco tinnunculus in Meijendel, the western Netherlands. In an aerial fight, that started some 20 m above the ground, the birds tumbled down, both uttering distress calls. The Kestrel dropped its prey in the process. The birds parted a few meters from the ground and flew away in different directions. The prey was left on the ground, where it was identified as a Bank Vole Myodes glareolus.
