Since 2016 Buzzards Buteo buteo breed at Camping Bakkum and no longer in the forest area between the campsite and the open dunes (Commissarisveld), possibly because Pine Martens Martes martes had settled in the latter area. Since 2015 Goshawks Accipiter gentilis alternately bred in Commissarisveld and Glopstukken; failures in 2016 and 2017 may have been caused by Pine Martens.
