On August 26, 2018, a young Marsh Harrier was photographed with a dark plumage and a strikingly white belly, flying south in the dunes near Castricum. A dark plumage with a white belly has occasionally been recorded in Marsh Harriers. Probably the Castricum bird was partially leucistic.
