During analyses of many hundreds of soil samples from archaeological sites the molluscs of the soil fauna were collected. At different places in Europe two subterranean species were found living in earthworm burrows: Lucilla scintilla and Cecilioides acicula. Some data are given about the numbers and the habitat. Lucilla scintilla was very rare and only present in low numbers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. Cecilioides acicula was common in the suitable habitat. Only in Valkenburg (province of Limburg, the Netherlands) and Wange (province of Vlaams Brabant, Belgium) the two species were found at the same site.
