Contributions to the knowledge of Strombacea. 2: Strombus (Doxander) vittatus entropi versus Strombus sulcatus: een rechtzetting

Recently the authors published a revision of the Strombid subgenus Doxander. In an inaccurately formulated addendum they erroneously stated that Strombus sulcatus Holten might be an immature and deformed S. vittatus entropi Man in ’t Veld & Visser, 1993. However, the figures of S. sulcatus in Chemnitz Conchylien-Cabinet (1788, vol. 10, figs. 1807-1808) do not allow accurate identification and without Holten’s type-material, S. sulcatus Holten, 1802 should be treated as a nomen dubium.
